BREAKING NEWS :
NEW YEAR MESSAGE
As the clock strikes midnight on a New Year, is a time to reflect.
On 10th January, St James Three Pillars will mark three years of showing up, of serving, of caring, and of quietly doing what we believe we are called to do.
As we look back and reflect on the last three years, I am amazed at how far we have come together as a church and as a community, doing what we should be doing, helping those who are less fortunate than ourselves.
> organising food collections, to collecting them and bringing them to St James Church.
> preparing food, to cooking it.
> serving meals, to washing up afterwards.
> making cakes, to making teas.
> being a listening ear, to being a shoulder to cry on.
> sitting through those long committee meetings, to applying for funding.
The list really does go on and on.
Without each and every one of our volunteers, we would not have achieved so much. They have reached out and touched the lives of so many people, often without even realising the impact they have made. And just as importantly, they have built something special among themselves, a community of volunteers, friendships formed, and journeys shared through good times and bad.
Jesus reminds us, “Whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.” (Matthew 25:40)
And we are encouraged to “Serve one another humbly in love.” (Galatians 5:13)
As we step into 2026, we are thankful for all that has been accomplished, and hopeful for all that is still to come.

With our Grant from the Household Support Fund (HSF5).
We have started delivering on a Friday, evening packages of food from the food bank to those who are elderly or disabled and are not able to access our service in the usual way. We are only delivering to the NN5 area and have enough funding to deliver to approximately 25 households.
St. James Three Pillars began serving those in need on the 10th. January 2023 and continues to seek ways of improving and serving the growing number of those accessing the service.
Three Pillars Community Card
Our Friends now have the opportunity to join the Three Pillars Community, which is essential for them to access additional support - meals and Welfare do not require membership. Upon registering, our Friends completed a questionnaire providing information such as living situation, household size, gender, age and ethnicity. There are two purposes for this:
1. Ensure we are appropriately providing for them (eg. if they are registered as living in temporary housing, they cannot receive a tent).
2. Allow us to apply for grants which require information on gender, ethnicity and age of those accessing our services.
As with any change, it will take some time for us and our Friends to get used to, but this is a positive step in the right direction to ensure our Friends are supported as best they can be.
