Saturday
1st. August 2026
Originally, the month of August was called Sextilis, which means "sixth" in Latin, as it was the sixth month of the early Roman calendar, which had only ten months. In 8 BCE, the Roman Senate renamed Sextilis to Augustus in honor of Emperor Augustus Caesar, recognizing his significant achievements, including the conquest of Egypt and various military victories.
Today we pray for those living in Richmond Terrace, Parkwood Street, Aberdare Road, Brecon Street, Town Corner, and Our Neighbouring Parishes.
Please pray for all those involved in the Ukrainian War
especially all those injured and killed
Morning ;
Come Holy Spirit,
fill the hearts of your faithful and kindle in them the fire of your love.
Send forth your Spirit and they shall be created.
And You shall renew the face of the earth.
O, God, who by the light of the Holy Spirit,
did instruct the hearts of the faithful,
grant that by the same Holy Spirit we may be truly wise
and to fill us with Spirit and wisdom,
Through Christ Our Lord, Amen.
Evening
O God, by whom the meek are guided in judgment,
and light riseth up in darkness for the godly:
Grant us, in all our doubts and uncertainties,
the grace to ask what thou wouldest have us to do,
that the Spirit of wisdom may save us from all false choices,
and that in thy light we may see light,
and in thy straight path may not stumble;
through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
